How long does therapy take to work?
So how long does it typically take for treatment to work? Usually, people can start to
see some changes in the areas they want to improve in their lives by the 6th session.
Most often this does not mean that the work is done, just that progress is being made.
Recent research indicates that on average 15 to 20 sessions are required for 50 percent
of patients to recover as indicated by self-reported symptom measures. The length of
time in therapy is very individual and is based on your goals and what you need.
Although there are some people that request longer-term support, at MVP most often
people are able to meet their goals within a few months to a year.
